1st Tuesday Dementia Support Group Panama City
Time & Location
About the Event
Support groups are important for the people living with Dementia but also for care partners, family, friends, and healthcare professionals as a "point of contact" for education, support, and resources.
Hands-On Skill Building Session
1st Tuesday Dementia Support Group virtual meeting February 2, 2021 9:30 am CST.
Senior Helpers of Panama City, FL.
This is a follow-up to “A Morning with with Teepa” event giving attendees time to practice caregiver techniques such as hand-under-hand and using a Positive Approach. The focus is on activities of daily living, specifically eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, walking, and grooming.
Our guest speaker in February 2021 is Total HealthWorks: https://totalhealthworks.com/
Members of our 1st Tuesday Dementia Support Group of Panama City frequently refer to the "Senior GEMS" strategies as a guide for families living with dementia. Our best meetings were when we were able to sit around the table and discuss matters that no one understands - until they have a family member or friend living with Dementia. Now we meet virtually, until such time as it is safe to start meeting again in-person. We have limited in-person attendance at the Beach Chamber with social distancing.
If you are looking for a support group or you just want to learn more about dementia, RSVP to rerceive a Zoom link. If you are looking for solutions, we use Senior GEMS strategies to:
1. help change resistance and refusals into participation and successful interactions
2. help care partners understand which state of brain change the person is experiencing and how to respond appropriately
Call Senior Helpers of Panama City (850.215.1793) for more information about Companion Care, for details about Caregiver training, for a free Senior Gems DVD / strategy tri-fold, or to schedule a "Skill Building" Workshop training.
