About the Event

When you Register, you will automatically receive a Zoom invitation for our 11/3/20 meeting.  We have limited capacity for in-person attendance with social distancing.  If you want to attend in-person, please send Karen a "Chat" message when you Register telling her that you want to attend in person.  She will let you know if space is still available.

The topic for our 1st Tuesday Dementia Support Group meeting in November 2020 will be "The Importance of Activities" for people living with Dementia and how Care partners can create "Meaningful Days and Moments of Joy."  We will have two guest speakers presenting information on the topic of "activities:" Heather Ogilvie from the Panama City Public Library and Karen McGee with Senior Helpers of Panama City.  Heather has a unique way of looking at engagement and strategies for making connections with people who are living with Dementia that help Care partners during activities of daily living.  Karen brings her knowledge of communication together with techniques for engaging people using creative experiences.  This month we are planning some fun hands-on activities for the people who attend in person.

Before the guest speakers begin, our Care partners introduce themselves and discuss their life experiences and concerns about Dementia Care. There is plenty of time after the presentation to ask questions, talk about common interests, concerns, and challenges.  Throughout the meeting we socialize, share ideas, help each other solve problems, and show support for each other in the process.

Our meetings are free, open to the public, and refreshments are provided.  Every month we have a guest speaker who provides Dementia-specific information about resources, research, strategies, techniques, activities, medications, and more.  We use Senior GEMS and the Positive Physical Approach to offer Care partners solutions to manage difficult behaviors, methods to plan meaningful days, and techniques for creating moments of joy for people living with Dementia.

Call Senior Helpers: 850.215.1793 for free Senior Gems DVD and strategy tri-fold.

Join us in November to see what a difference a support group can make in your life!!  We look forward to seeing you on 11/3/20!!
