About the Event

COVID has changed everything and has made it necessary to conduct our Dementia Support Group meetings virtually for a few months.   Our 1st Tuesday DSG 1/5/21 will be totally virtual and we will not have a guest speaker.  "Meet and greet" others who have questions or concerns about caring for a person who is living with dementia.

During our January 1st Tuesday Dementia Support Group meeting, we will talk about our upcoming event -  "A Morning with Teepa" Thursday, 1/21/21.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/I, FAOTA, is one of the world's leading advocates and educators for anyone living with dementia.  Our "Morning with Teepa" is designed to help those caring for someone who is experiencing problems with thinking, memory, language, or behavior.  It will address a wide variety of common concerns and issues from the earliest stages of cognitive changes until the end of journey resulting in death due to complications of brain failure.

Whether you are a professional in the Health Care Industry or a friend or family member of someone suffering from dementia, this is a must see seminar packed with useful information you can begin utillizing immediately.  Teepa's GEMS classification system (based on the Allen Cognitive Disability Theory) allows you to understand which stage of dementia the person is experiencing.  Senior Helpers and Teepa Snow created the Senior GEMS which Senior Helpers uses to train their caregivers. People who are trained to use a Positive approach to Care can help change resistance and refusals into participation and successful interactions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Members of our 1st Dementia Support Group frequently refer to the Senior Helpers "Senior GEMS" strategies as a guide for families living with dementia. The best meetings have been when we sit around the table and discuss matters that no one understands - until they have a family member or friend living with Dementia.

If you are looking for a support group or you just want to learn more about dementia, RSVP to rerceive a Zoom link.  If you are looking for solutions, we use the Senior GEMS strategies to improve quality of life create meaningful days, and moments of joy.

Call Senior Helpers of Panama City (850.215.1793) for more information about Companion Care, for details about Caregiver training, or for a free Senior Gems DVD and strategy tri-fold.

Join us in January to see what a difference a support group can make in your life!!  We look forward to seeing you on 1/5/21!
